Oakland University will host a national Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. The debate will be broadcast exclusively from 8-10 p.m. EST on CNBC. The event will also stream live on CNBC.com. The debate is co-sponsored by CNBC and the Michigan Republican Party.

Oakland University’s reputation as a distinctive university offering an exceptional education contributed to our selection to host this important national event. It is exciting to see that our institution has become a first-choice venue to host an event that showcases Oakland to the nation.

As an institution of higher learning, OU supports activities that allow American citizens to make educated decisions about the political candidates vying to represent them. We're pleased to host a Republican national debate as a critical part of the broader democratic process that will determine who will be elected president in the 2012 election.

We understand there may be opportunities to involve and engage our students, alumni, faculty, staff and others in the community in events and activities related to this historic event. Stay tuned to the OU alumni website, for more information as it becomes available.

Please show up to Dan O'Connor's Campaign Launch Party

Friday September 9th at 6:30pm
Lolita's Bar on Broome St (corner of Allen St)

Dan's campaign just recently launched but has made great progress already. He has a very unique approach in targeting the 100,000 Chinese voters in NY district 12 who have been really receptive to his campaign. Last week, page 3 of the most widely read Chinese newspaper in North America was devoted to his campaign. He also spoke to Liberty Fest in Las Vegas last month and appeared on RT in late July. He writes for both Campaign for Liberty and Mises.org and will be appearing on Reason TV this month.

Please come out and help get Dan's Campaign off the ground. Small donations will be collected at the door. It is the night before Liberty Fest New York where Dan will appear.
